A HYGGE EASTER WITH COMFORT FOOD AND GIFTS…

The Scandinavians excel in comfort – family, friends, a good atmosphere, long meals, relaxation and an emphasis on simple pleasures. They even have a word for this kind of cosiness that comes with spending quality time in hearth and home when the days are short: hygge. Trine Hahnemann is the doyenne of Scandinavian cooking and loves nothing more than spending time in her kitchen cooking up comforting food in good company. This is her collection of recipes that will warm you up and teach you to embrace the art of hygge, no matter where you live.

This gorgeous book “Scandinavian Comfort Food”, by Trine Hannemann is full to the brim with delicious easy to follow recipes. Great for anyone interested in hygge and Scandinavian food.

Another great book for anyone who prefers baking is the “Scandinavian Baking: Loving Baking at Home“, by Trine Hahnemann.  Trine Hahnemann is the leading authority on Scandinavian baking, and here she holds the hand of the uninitiated baker and leads them through the mysteries of baking bread, always with an eye to the practicalities of creating great bread at home. Here you will find no complicated recipes, or sourdough starters that need as much tending as a baby. Instead, Trine teaches you how you can fit the making of bread into our busy lives, without compromising on quality. Scandinavian crispbreads abound, as do savoury tarts and recipes from the smorrebrod. And then there’s the sweet baking — a recipe for each kind of Danish pastry you could ever wish for, a cookie for every occasion, and mouth-watering layer cakes, coffee cakes and cream buns.

My mouth is watering just writing about it.

On the beautiful website Hygge Style, they have an Easter Shop with some great gifts in like these blue and white ceramic chicken egg cups. Decorating your home at Easter is one of the most charming of Scandinavian traditions. Bundles of twigs or pussy willow in large jugs or vases look wonderful when teamed with hanging eggs. ÂŁ5.49

My final favourite is this yellow spring Easter Egg gift tin by Gisela Graham which would look good in anyone’s kitchen, ÂŁ4.49

I set up Crafted By B Studio after retiring from writing a blog for over 10 years on chronic pain. As a chronic pain sufferer myself I had always used art as a way to relax and take me away from my pain and stumbled upon paint by numbers by fluke. I was hooked from day one and went into custom paint by numbers as I progressed with my others. Over the past 3 years I have completed over 20 pieces and also made some of my own unique pieces. I am happy to help anyone who might like a custom picture made into a piece of beautiful art using this type of technology. I am also interested in lots of different types of crafts which I enjoy with my 4 grandchildren so my site will have lots of links and posts on mixed crafts and arts.
