CUSHIONS TO FINISH YOUR STYLE OF HOME…

If, like me, you love your cushions then you will love some of the ones I have found . Having moved to the coast last year I cannot get enough coastal themed ones which seem to be very popular this year.

Cushions can completely change the room theme and colour and every year I change the cushions in at least one room. Check out some of these below to change yours.

Hunter & Co have a range called Coastal Modern is one of the biggest influences in their curated collection as they say they just adore all shades blue, green and white (yes there really are different shades of white!) from their handmade Dhurrie rugs to stylish ceramic vases to gorgeous art prints.

I just love these two cushion covers, Railey and Elliott, both £38 – the emerald green and nautical blue with pretty tassels.

Home Monger is another gorgeous site and has some unique hand woven raffia cushion covers with fringe detail adding natural texture to your home.

£55

This natural cushion pad in cotton and linen is trimmed in feathers and has a zip fastening at £50

If you like linen then you will love True Linen website and these two beauties. The woven fabric in light grey or pink is so natural and calming and a perfect match for my own bedrooms colour scheme. They are made of 100% soft linen and cost £39.99

Finally another of my favourite companies for many things is Made who have lots and lots of cushions but two of my favourite ones are this Bowker storm green stripe one for a reasonable £25.

Bowker Stripe £25
Ryker Cushion £25

MORE GREENER WAYS TO LIVE A HYGGE STYLE LIFESTYLE…

Continuing on the greener lifestyle there are other ways you can contribute to living a greener life.

If you are going to take advantage of the outdoors with the slight let down on the lock down then you need to think of the best tableware/disposables for your picnic.

Paper plates might be compost able but bamboo tableware is reusable and ideal for a picnic.

A great site with lots to offer in bamboo are Emilie O’Connor

Emilie O’Connor wrote about bamboo – The Beauty of Bamboo

When we destroy something created by man we call it vandalism, but when we destroy something by nature we call it progress” Ed Bedgley Jr summing up the kind of consumerism which has damaged our precious planet.

It is not my idea of progress.

Here at Emilie O’Connor Homestore we love to create. We love designs and beautifully made products but we don’t want to promote the kind of consumerism Ed Bedgley Jr so strikingly highlights. In the shadow of ‘progress’ we have trodden too many heavy footprints with no foresight into the way we step or what we step on. ‘It’s not always what you do, but instead, how you do it. ‘Of course, no manufacturing is without its footprints but we are committed to sustainable home-ware production making that footprint as small, kind and gentle to the earth as possible.

GOING GREENER THE HYGGE WAY…

We are all trying to do our bit to go greener and candles are very much a part of a HYGGE Lifestyle.

They instantly add atmosphere but to keep greener make sure they are 100 per cent beeswax instead of paraffin, which can contribute to air pollution when burned.

Also don’t forget packaging as tea lights come in aluminium cups, which are recyclable but are less eco- friendly than casing-free tapers.

One great site for your greener tea lights and all candles made with beeswax is Five Bees Yard

Their beeswax candles are virtually chemical free. They are safe in contact with food if you want to use them as birthday cake candles. But they will serve your religious purpose as well.

Clean your mind and relax with our 20 minutes + relaxation candles. No fumes, no toxic chemicals. Pure nature enclosed in raw beeswax.

Zero waste – no cup tea lights. Re-use your old cups. Still the same 100% top quality raw beeswax. Unprocessed, untreated, unaltered. Pure nature that is sustainable.
