With all the rage being ‘second hand/vintage’ clothes it will be no surprise to find some that are in a bit of a state. Especially ones bought from a charity shop.

Well, if your not handy with a needle then London’s Splendid Stitches is the place to take your outfits to be repaired.

They can repair, restore and alter clothes so they stay true to their original style.

They offer a personal service and owner Nanna Sandom says they can handle everything from a zip replacements, patching, hemming, mending tears and replacing linings, using genuine vintage parts wherever its possible.

Use baking soda to clean your sink.

To remove rust stains, rub with lemon juice, then rinse.

Put talc inside your rubber gloves, it makes them easier to get on and off.

To remove water marks on wood put some mayonnaise on a soft cloth and rub.

To remove candle wax warm a knife over a candle flame then use it to lift the wax.

To remove candle wax from clothes cover with brown paper and run a warm iron (switched off) over it.

To remove candle wax from a candle stick or similar use a hair-dryer.

Use a walnut to rub out marks on wood.
