MY LATEST KNITTING PROJECT…

My niece is expecting her first child at the end of June and I asked my sister if she thought she might like me to knit her a throw for the cot.

She thought it would be a lovely idea so I decided to have a go first with some of my left over wool. As you can see I’ve used a contrasting blanket stitch for the outside edges and down the centre.

I designed the pattern myself, and found picking the stitches up at the side quite difficult but I would still like a trim right around the throw, which is the only thing I had thought of changing.
I decided against anything else on the edges in case the baby put it in his/her mouth. The wool I have seen is gorgeous and very soft and cosy.

She does not want to know what she is having so I have decided to just get one pink and one blue wool to do the sewing when I know what she has had.

    1. Not as snuggly as the wool I have found to make the proper one in, I’m also going to put a ribbon down one side, still lots of ideas going through my head at the moment 🙂

  3. I got to start knitting the 3rd and hopefully the final shawl for my next grandchild….due end Sept. They take forever and get really heavy when you are about a 3rd through.

    One tip is that unless you buy a ‘pyramid’ for a knitting machine to use for hand knitting is to be careful when running out of wool in the ball. I would rather waste about a yard or so and start the next row with a new ball so as not to have a join in the middle. Those odd bits can be used for crochet.

    1. Gosh p I think a shawl would take forever but so lovely for your children to keep for their kids.

      Thanks for the tip, I’m pretty new and basic at this knitting game and thinking of different styles to it for the finished product. I’ve decided on some lovely cuddly wool and hope to get it bought soon but will remember about the yarn at the end of a row. 🙂
