HOW IT WAS IN THE 1950’s…

vintage blog

Think holiday camps and Butlins with home bars and cocktail cabinets a very fashionable accessory in your home.

Flat-packed furniture was introduced with tops laminated in a marble or wood effect.

The Queen’s Coronation meant mass production of souvenir items, from biscuit tins to cigarette holders.

Tupperware parties were popping up with melamine plastic tableware very fashionable.

Wall art and prints of swans and flamingos, think Coronation Street. Everything was patterned, from wallpaper, carpets, curtains and cushions which are coming back into fashion at the moment.

The most popular tipple of the 1950’s was Babycham with collectable glasses with the babysham on them.

I set up Crafted By B Studio after retiring from writing a blog for over 10 years on chronic pain. As a chronic pain sufferer myself I had always used art as a way to relax and take me away from my pain and stumbled upon paint by numbers by fluke. I was hooked from day one and went into custom paint by numbers as I progressed with my others. Over the past 3 years I have completed over 20 pieces and also made some of my own unique pieces. I am happy to help anyone who might like a custom picture made into a piece of beautiful art using this type of technology. I am also interested in lots of different types of crafts which I enjoy with my 4 grandchildren so my site will have lots of links and posts on mixed crafts and arts.

    1. Guess what free – it’s mine – well not exactly mine but it was my late step fathers and most definitely vintage and working very well. I just changed the picture to black and White to make it more vintage looking. 🙂

    1. I actually have them both. They are vintage and belonged to my late mother and father in law and I love them.

Nowadays there are similar parties to Tupperware which are coming back into fashion again, my daughter went to one recently called The Pampered Chef which sells kitchen stuff. 🙂
